South American Adventures
Ski With Kim

For the past 5 years I have spent the month August Skiing in Portillo, Chile. Portillo is like a private ski resort because there is only one hotel with 400 beds. That’s it! No condos, no private homes, no day skiers. When you go to Portillo for a week of skiing, it’s just you and the other guests and a staff of 400 to take care of us. With over 2,000 acres of diverse terrain and very little grooming, it’s a skier’s paradise. Untracked powder for days after a storm, surface lifts that take you to steep technical slopes all above the timberline, and long intermediate groomers which go on forever. I have skied other resorts in South America and I keep going back to Portillo because, in my opinion, it’s the best!

My lead guide, Greg Harms, has been skiing Portillo for 18 years. Not only is he fluent in Spanish, but also he knows Portillo. Our goal as guides is to make sure you are in the right place at the right time, getting you to the best snow conditions, best aspects, and best light for the time of day. My second guide, Nick Hill, with 15 years of teaching and guiding experience, adds knowledge and an Australian sense of humor to our days. Three of us with 15 of you, make for small groups to accommodate different levels. Each day is different and we encourage you to enjoy your vacation the way you want to. We are there to ski, laugh, have fun, and share our passion for skiing with you.

spacerWHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING

Group“Drop dead scenery and the nicest staff…. Portillo should be on every skiers check list.”
Monica Carter

"My Ski With Kim adventure in Portillo defined for me, why I ski... Amazing people, light fluffy snow, and incredible terrain with views to match. It really was the ultimate ski experience-- The skiing was epic because Kim and her team knew where and when to be for the best runs on the mountain. Portillo, itself, is an unreal setting with the mountains encasing a lake at 9,000 ft. And, it is home to some of the warmest, most welcoming people you'll ever meet. I can't wait for next August!"
Emily Shanks

“For my 18 year old, William, and myself, it was one of the best trips of our lives. The skiing, the laughter, the guides were the best. Every skier needs a Portillo in their travel portfolio.”
Rosalind Dujardin

Levins"Portillo was a truly unique and wonderful atmosphere for vacationing with my teenage daughter. Breaking out of our usual mother-daughter relationship, and just being two diehard skiers among other diehard skiers, Portillo made for a lively and unforgettable vacation."
Margery Feldberg

“The whole Portillo trip was invigorating.  Skiing the Roca Jack terrain in powder conditions, enjoying lunch at Tio Bob's, taking advantage of all of the activities in the hotel, and meeting new people – all nothing less than a first rate experience.  The added benefit – being able to ski with Kim and learn from her while having a great time.”

Ash and Jeff“It was a terrific opportunity for me to be with my daughter and watch her experience a completely different kind of skiing experience – it’s certainly not like skiing in Vermont .”
Jeff Sussman

“ I'm so used to skiing on icy slopes that aren't that steep, but when I went on this trip, I skied "intense" powder for the first time and it was so exciting! If I had to describe it in one word, it would probably be amazing. It was the most fun I've ever had skiing in my whole life"
Ashby Sussman – age 13

If there is one thing that you learn at Kim’s camps its how to have fun. You just totally forget about the world around you and just soak up the great skiing and the great friends that you make.
Bailey Chalfont – age 15
