Legacy Customer Profile: Frank & Bailey Chalfont

This year marks the 30th Anniversary of Ski With Kim (SWK), meaning Kim has skied with A LOT of people, in A LOT of places. Kim's passion is to share her love of skiing with others. As a tribute to the people who have made this dream possible year after year, we are highlighting some of Ski With Kim's most loyal customers.

For the fourth installment, Ski With Kim profiled Frank & Bailey Chalfont, a father-son duo from Florida and Colorado.

How long have Frank and Bailey been skiing with Kim?  For over 13 years!

Where did they hear about SWK?

KIM:  In 2005 Bailey Chalfont attended my Steep Skiing Camp for kids in Crested Butte. The camp was designed to help young teenagers prepare for the junior division of the U.S. Freeskiing Championships.

In 2011 Bailey and crew successfully hiked and skied Portillo's famous Super C. Bailey, in red, is all smiles for a good reason.

How has the relationship evolved over the years?

KIM: What started as mentoring has become a lasting friendship with Bailey and his dad, Frank.  We have skied Crested Butte, Aspen and several times in Portillo together. Frank was a bit put off when I sent Bailey home with a flyer advertising my trips to Portillo.

I decided to find Kim and protest the promotion of such an extravagant idea via our son. Apparently, I did a poor job in convincing Kim of her bad choice because we skied together in Portillo that summer and almost every summer thereafter while Bailey was in college.”- FRANK

"Kim is very goal-oriented. She has helped me on the snow with skiing and off the snow in life in general." - BAILEY

Fun memories?

KIM: It’s been a pleasure spending quality time with both Frank and Bailey in the mountains. The challenges the mountains present are parallel with our lives and all three of us have become more knowledgeable, more confident and more grateful for the time we’ve spent together.

“Kim and I couldn’t be any more different, yet we share a strong friendship because of our passion for the mountains and each other’s well being. We agree there’s more to skiing than skiing.” - FRANK

KIM: Pushing Frank slightly outside of his comfort zone and watching his mental strength build with his skills has been one of my greatest pleasures.

“Because of my experiences skiing with Kim, my inner confidence has grown tremendously.” -FRANK

Notable Trips?

“Skiing across the frozen lake, navigating the Inca Trail, discovering Garage wine at Tio Bob’s, experiencing the first of many helicopter skiing days and discovering stone oven baked bread on the road to Portillo are some of my most fond memories.”- FRANK

“I've skied so many times with Kim. She always keeps the energy high, everyone laughing and having a good time. She wants to help improve people’s skiing abilities, but she cares more about building relationships and making sure everyone is enjoying themselves beyond just improving their skiing.” - BAILEY
